Career Colleges (CCs) are run by the Career Colleges Trust and are being championed by Lord Kenneth Baker, who is also behind the 17 existing University Technical Colleges (UTCs). Both target 14-18 year olds. The difference between UTCs and CCs (an acronym which must lead to email problems - 'so we cc the CCs?') is that CCs are based in Further Education colleges and use their facilities.
The practical impact for most schools will be similar to that of UTCs though - secondary schools cannot assume that students will stay from Y7-11 and there will also be more post 16 competition. Make sure you add them to your list of competitors and analyse their strengths.
